WACOM tablet and JAVA

What GUI component of Java that can accept the inputs from WACOM tablet? My project is about Handwrititng recognition and I dont know how the WACOM tablet can interact with Java.. Thanks!
if I were to venture a guess, without special drivers to Java a tablet would look like a regular mouse.
