integration with taxware

Hi,

Does anybody have experienced develop Java calling Taxware API ? If so can you provide some tips on

a) handling open and close option with taxcommon ? Pros/Cons and any suggestion

b) since taxware dealling with very large String at a time, are there any tips on optimized the JVM GC ?
