Error in running Cisco IDM
I'm experiencing a couple of problems when trying to run the Cisco IPS Device Manager (IDM).
First, I launched the IDM and received an error that I needed to upgrade to 1.4.2 or higher. So I upgraded my JSE to 1.4.2_12.
Then I launched the IDM again and received an error that my heap size was less than 256MB and I needed to increase it. So I accessed the Java plug-in and entered -Xmx256m in the Runtime Parameters field like I was told.
Then I launched the IDM again and received an error that the JRE can't be loaded and that I need version 1.4.2 or higher.
I have tried uninstalling everything and going through the entire process several times now with the same results. Please help.

What version of Internet Explorer are you using? I had the exact same problem; at the time i was running IE7RC1 on my laptop and had ver 1.5 of JRE installed. Every time I would enter runtime paramaters in through the java control panel, the JRE would fail to load upon execution. I even placed a call into Cisco. When Cisco called me back, I had upgraded to the new full release of IE7, I went to replicate the error and instead it worked. Cisco states that the IDM is only supported on IE6. I have found that all the pre-release versions of 7 seem to have these issues with the JRE, but the final release does seem to support IDM and I have had no problems since. I hope this helps.
