please help me!!!!

hello to all the java programmer out here. im a new member here in this forum. i am a graduating student from philippines taking up Computer Science and i have a big problem that i hope somone could help me here. our thesis is developing SKYPE-like software, our big problem is our professor wants us to use java as language to use in the development of the software the problem we in the group doesnt know anything about java. could anyone out here who can help us solve our big problem....im looking forward to your reply!!!
