Did you codejam?
Hi,
I am just curious to know did any of our experts here take part in Google codejam. I wanted to but couldn't because of the schedule (10 AM in the morning - I was in meeting with my clients)
For me, it more seems to be an online technical interview, where they filter people for their needs. Should be true - last year's top 50 (out of India code jam) were offered to work at google..
It seems, this year they have open position in Python also.

Can I spread it on toast ?

I once had a bad case of codejam, but the doctor gave me a shot, cleared it right up.

Hm. I did remember that correctly. It makes sense if one thinks about it, considering some of the stuff posted here.

I thought the word was schei?(or something like that)?

I read a bit about it and (all IMHO) I find it a terrible event. Programs,
classes etc. are not supposed to be "jammed" together. I recognize
that code generation is not a purely scientific activity either (including
correctness proofs etc.), but it should lean towards it as much as
possible.
I don't like spending too much time in front of a keyboard either; again
IMHO it's far better to let my wetware between my ears do the bulk
of the job so that I can minimize the time spent typing it all in.
Software development is not a race against the clock although most of
management seems to think it is given their estimated time tables.
kind regards,
Jos (good software is like wine: it takes a couple of years ...)

Goldie left again a few weeks ago. Hopefully permanent but you know... Mert got his MCSE or something and gave up teh jav for a life administering IIS.

Watch it! You are moving down a slippery slope here.

Speak of the unspeakable. :o)

That made me laugh.
And I purposely try to avoid those folk, and I have noted that that job's been much easier here of late.
PS: Come on Sun, it looks ridiculously unprofessional to have four different styles of links/buttons at the top of this message text area. I know there are worse things about the fora, so don't take time away from the effort to fix those for this, but if you're looking for a place to start enhancing the user experience, you could do worse...

Ah. The kind where you say "Orange you glad it's not our problem anymore"

I don't know if this is what you meant but for the improving JRE installer one the complaint says
"One big issue with the JRE install is that it doesn't retain Java 3D when an end user updates to a new JRE."
The fix was "to get rid of the "complete" dialog for simplification"
Dear Lord!
> I don't know if this is what you meant but for theI simply meant the two occasions of "improved user experience".
