Java-CD Installation Security

Someone, please look at this now!

I have developed a software and about to get it on the market. But there is something that is bothering me very much and i hope there is a solution to it.

Is there a way to limit a CD installation to just one system. In so doing, preventing it from being installed on other computers as to tackle duplication and pirating.

I know how to get the serial numbers and stuff for a particular system which is very unique to all computers and I was thinking that by getting the information back on to the CD as verification when subsequent installations are attempted would prevent this. But one problem, how do i write/get data back on to the CD during installation and what's worse, it's not every computer that has a writable drive. Can you just copy data unto the CD without burning(NO huh). Or is there a way?

Please,,, someone help a fellow java brother. It takes such a long time to develop a good java software, so I definately don't want somebody getting it for free like that. See what I mean.

hio,

well i can give u a possible solution.

ask ur client to register from his computer online.

during this procedure u take his comp serial no. and after that u make a cd personally for him using his comp's uniqure serial no.

every time ur application starts it will chk the serial no. of the machine again and if it does not match. it will exit with a warning.

u can do it.

but i need ur hlp too...

i need to know how to get the unique serial no of a comp. plz hlp me...

thx
