fresh install of jdk1.5.0_08 on redhat enterprise 4

Hi, newbie here, please forgive my ignorance. :)

While trying to get Eclipse running on a new workstation, I discovered that this distro of the OS only came with gcj, so I went ahead and downloaded and installed the rpm for the JDK.

I am wondering what I should do to make the installation "complete," as far as adding things to my PATH, putting symbolic links in visible directories, etc. I have put links to java and javac but so far this doesn't seem sufficient for Eclipse to start up.

If my question makes any sense at all, and advice would be appreciated.
