using GIFs

i am new to Java and cannot get GIFs to work in my programs.....Anyone know why? maybe i do something stupid?Thanks

2.) Describe the problems you have, including any error messages you might get.

3.) Describe the expected result.

Edit: Basically reading GIFs should not be a problem, writing is not so trivial.
