DVB URLs - representing Transport Streams

Hi All,

If anybody of you has read the book "Interactive TV Standards", you would have noticed that in the chapter on "Basic MPEG concepts in MHP and OCAP" and section "Locators for DVB Streaming Content", it mentions that quote "there is no way to refer to a transport stream using this locator syntax", DVB URL format that is.

However the DAVIC specification (Davic 1.4.1 Part 9) section 9.5.3 lists in the form of a table various DVB URL Examples. One of which is something like dvb://e9e.f5ad, and it says this represensts DVB Transport Stream.

These 2 views seems contradictory. Can anyone point out to me if this indeed is so, or have I deduced something incorrectly.

Thanks,

N

That's an error in the book. The locator syntax that you describe is valid in MHP.Steve.
