Java 5.0: Several java virtual machines running in the same process

Sorry, I don't know that much about the program. I'm only 17. But I don't know where else to ask. I tried downloading the new version but I get the error --

"the java runtime environment cannot be loaded" followed by, "several java virtual machines running in the same process caused an error."

I downloaded the more dated versions of Java 5.0 and the samething happened. I ended up having to downgrade back to my original version. Is there any way I can fix this and run Java 5.0?
