yahoo chess

Hi guys,

I'm just an average chess player who discovered yahoo chess a few months ago. i love playing but have found out that many of the players cheat. i'm not a programer nor am i looking for lessons in java but i just want some straightforward answers on how i can prevent people from cheating against me. any help would be apreciated for the following situations:

1) I'm playing someone who by virtue of the moves they are making, i know is using a chess program. is there any way to tell if someone is?

2) I'm winning against someone and all of a sudden i get booted from the game. now i know this can probably happen from a lost conection but it seems too much of a coincedence that i get booted only when i'm winning. again is there any way to protect myself against this?

Hugs and kisses to anyone that can help (for the girls, chocolate)

NO, there is no control that you can enforce on someone over the internet. They can be doing literally anything ffrom consulting a chess pro, to actually lying about their skill level. They can also be running a program on thier side, so in reality you are playing thier chess program.

Since I have not played the yahoo chess, I cannot be sure, but I know when i've been playing on-line that people tend to hangup or quit rather than getting beaten.

2) This is true. I witnessed this happen consistently among some users over the last 8 years or so. When confronted their actions confirm suspicions. One of the retail cheats must have a little extra undocumented cheat feature. What's interesting is the original yahoo chess board game java application up to around 2002 correctly credited your user account with an 'abandoned game' when this happened. Now that's all changed. I can send you details
