I compiled my servlet program, it gives an compilation error as package package javax. servlet.* does not exsist.
Can anyone help me as how to set Environment variables in windows XP. I am using java1.5.0_02 version.
In which we have to set the path 1. user variables or system variables.

hi deepa,
first of all you have to use Java 2 enterprice edition not standart edition. becuase servlet interface is available in J2EE you can download the sdk from the following link
http://java.sun.com/javaee/downloads/
second thing just go to he classpath in your IDE and define the location of the jar file of J2EE.
i advice u to use netbeans as IDE, becuase its full suporting web development...
