Catching random and

Hi all,

I am experiencing an interesting issue with a Java email server that I wrote. It is running on Linux 2.6 on an amd64-specific kernel of Gentoo running on JRE 1.5 update 6. What happens is randomly, the server would completely stop without logging any messages to any log. Before the crash, the server would correctly show up in the ps list, but after the crash, it would look like the server never ran. I've been trying to find a way to understand why this happens, but absolutely no log is created and the crashes occur randomly and without warning. Any suggestions?
