Bizarre behavior in the "Pass by Reference" thread
In category views, clicking on the last poster's name in the "last post" column brings up the last page of that thread.
When I click on jschell's name, I get the entire thread in one page. Thead heading says "401 replies on 1 page" and that's what I get.
The last two posts (400 and 401, which would normally be the last page for me) are repeats of the first two posts of the thread.
When I click the page number "9" however, (again, from category view), I get the expected last page with the proper two posts, and "401 replies on 2 pages")
Other threads are not doing this.
I wonder if 400 is a "special" number for these forums.

Yes it is. This is a known bug and has been around since at least November of last year. All threads withh 400 or more replies are affected. This one seems particularly bad in that usually the very strange behaviour is not seen until after you post in the thread however it is not the first time it has happened that a thread cannot be viewed either.
There is some sort of 400 post bug and to this point I have submitted feedback on it a few times only to be ignored or told to refresh and I have to tell you the latter really pisses me off because the problem is Sun incompetence not my ineptness.
I didn't understand that you were using the category page (even though you state that clearly). You should try it from the forum view page. Totally borked. Clicking page 9 brings up a page of garbeg starting from yawmarks last post...
Anyway I provided the link above because I thought you were not seeing it at all. Anyway this is the same **** just a slight different entry point.
I've already noticed this bug, in that infamous thread "big flaws in java", that was deleted by Sun. I think they decided to delete that because of this bug.
And I even suspect that when this forum becomes slow, probably some user is requesting for all the posts of some thread in only one page. It might affect the other threads, making them slow. I suspect...
