Senior Design Project Ideas
Hi,
I am looking for ideas that I could implement for my senior design project.
The topic of the project could be anything. It must involve a GUI (for which I will be using Swing) and it could encompass databases, web interfaces etc. depending on the goal of the project. The project should be completed in 15 weeks and will be worked upon by 4 people. So, now the question; does anyone have any ideas for a senior design project? It could also be a problem that someone faces and wants a solution for or something that you have heard someone do (which is doable in the given time frame).
Any suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You're really rude.
Do you see how this wastes our time? People answer one request without knowing about the others. Post your question once - we'll find it.
As an side comment, I'd say that you're showing a remarkable lack of imagination for a student. Is there no problem in your life that wouldn't benefit from some software? Go address that.
If I were your professor I'd mark you down for laziness and lack of vision.

Well Firstly my apologies for posting it so many times, but I didnt know poeple would read all of them. I thought they would only read the ones which are pertinant to their field. Sorry about that again. Honest Mistake.
And Sir, you could have yourself been a little polite in addressing my mistake like the gentleman above did. Not all people are jobless spammers some are just a little ignorant and make mistakes.
And as far as your comment about addressing a problem goes, what is the best way to find out about a problem rather than ask other people if they have encountered one in their (usually) extensive career. Surely a programmer will have more ideas about problems than a student who hasnt stepped into the corporate world. And about lack of imagination, I have other ideas but I rather wish that my project solve some real world problem than show some cute graphics when the user plays a chess game.
This is, encouraged by our professors.
Thank you very much.

Honest, indeed.

If you look more carefully, you'll notice that I WAS the gentleman above. I reacted with the second response after finding your question reposted seven times.

You'd better not make this one again.

Another way that should be attractive to students is to think for yourself.

You aren't being asked to solve a corporate problem, only to demonstrate mastery of your academic material.
But if you're looking for a fine problem, write a web-based timesheet application that can link back to projects. That will encompass databases and user interfaces, security, etc. It can be a surprisingly difficult problem. I've worked for four companies that did no better than fill out Excel spreadsheets.
I have plenty of ideas, but a lot of them are inspired by what I see in my own life. I suggest that you try the same. Or Google.

So let's hear your ideas. Certainly one of them must be "real world".

You need better professors.
> Thank you very much.
Keep your thanks. Let's hear your ideas. Don't be so bloody passive.
