Hi people, i know im gonna sound really stupid, but i want to learn to program in java, ill teach myself from texts, but when i go to the sun site for the software i always leave VERY confused as to which software i need to be able to start programming.id appreciate it greatly if anyone can give me straight simple answer.

God this is awful. The java.sun.com servers have been busted for weeks now. The online API has been up and down for quite some time too. I hope they get this resolved soon. I have submitted deefback numerous times which has had the expected results (nada).
I just tred submitting feedback through the link on the Special Topics category page. Naturally the form page hangs up when I hit submit.
