SSL Something to do with IP and DNS ?

Friends,

I'm not certainly clear, if this could be a better forum, But still most of the web developers are with java and have to come across security measures.

Okay, My issue is here >

I'm getting something strange here, may be if I'm wrong please correct me.

All i'm going to talk is about SSL and webserver and IP/DNS

Whenever I hit my URL with <IP:port >(https - SSL certified one ). I'm always been thrown "server not found" error.

In this case, I change same URL with its <DNS:PORT>(https -SSL certified one) and hit the page. I'm able to see the server working.

Is there anything I'm missing with ?, do you guys have any clue ?

I'm using iPlanet server6.0 with SSL enabled. IE6.0

I got the answer.

Actauly the problem was with my firewall. I have set the way, such that I would allow only limited IP address(a Know IP address), Hence the IP address i have used was somthing different than the one I have permitted to hit.

If you guys have same problem then what you can do is, change the connection settings to allow all IP address.

Thanks

Bala
