Yes, it's Apache's offering. It's a combination of a number of things: OpenEJB, etc.

Yes, it probably does. It's unlikely to be up to the EJB 3 spec anytime soon.

Little or no effect whatsoever. It's not important, IMO. If you'd like a free J2EE app server to learn on, I'd recommend a free developer version of WebLogic, JBoss, or Sun ONE before I'd go for Geronimo.
