guide me

Hi ,

I am posting a query which is not technical in nature. But thought there would be no better place for suggestion then this forum.

I am working on weblogic server and hp unix as an administrator from past 9 months in india. I do not have any other prior experience in the IT industry.

i want to switch to developer profile in java. Can all the seniors out here guide me as to how difficult it will for me to switch profile from admin to a developer job.

Moreover will scjp certification will be of any help in doing so ? ?

I will be highly grateful if you can suggest me as to what should be my plan of action for doing so (how do i prepare myself technically) as i won't be having wok exp on java.

Thanks in Advance

Regards

Depends mostly on you and whether you're actually cut out for programming. Not everyone is.

Maybe. It can help you getting a job interview, but if you don't actually know your stuffc("stuff" meaning knowing how to program, not how to wirte Java code - there is a big difference many fail to realize), you're out pretty quickly again. Even if you were hired (I'm currently seeing it with our project branch in India).

Take classes if you can. Or study. And practice a lot. Write good demos that you can show to possible employers.

Hmm... Medium sized projects do often need a weblogic and unix administrator on part time. It's usually a developer who does the administration. You could look and see if you find a project which needs an administrator/junior programmer apply for that position (if you know some java). You can then gradually move from administration into development.
