This forum is pitiful.
The "Question to Answer" ratio must be 90+ % !
Either the J2ME communitiy is really small and no really knows any answers...or...No one is interested in helping out fellow developers.
I have answered at least as many questions as I've asked. If everyone tried to do this, there wouldn't be all of the "Zero Reply" postings.
Come on folks, please help out fellow developers.
Well, most of the question itself are also pitifull. A lot of questions are so basic, that you could have found an answer to them faster that one could type the message. Also, API's are not read very well. Lots of stuff is in there that is simply ignored or not even read. Also, about 50% of the quesions were already asked before and answers can simply be found by using the search option.
Then, there are lots of people that are siply to lazy to find things out for them selves, and think they can get sample code for almost anything... It doesn't work like that. Finding it out yourself is much more helpfull, and makes you understand it much better.
I already have more than 800 posts on this and forum since feb this year, and 99% percent of those were answers to questions, so don't tell me that people don't aswer ;)
Deepspace,
I didn't say 'nobody' answered, just not enough people. In fact you're correct that you have shouldered a lions share. Maybe if others could pitch in, the burden could be spread a bit more evenly.
You're also correct that there are many simple questions where people could have dug out the answers for themselves. Again, if more people pitched in, even answering these wouldn't be such an issue.
At the end of the day, what is most important, is that there is a vibrant J2ME community,.
This forum at Sun, is supposedly at the heart of the J2ME activity. If that is the case, this is pitiful.
I say again, to all those that are happy sitting back, please get involved.
You might be try that there are not that many people that answer questions... but maybe, that is because of those simple to answer questions. But isn't that the case in many of the other subforums arround here, too?
And to add to whatever you both have said, another reason for not answering maybe lack of awarding 'DUKE DOLLARS'. Of course if the question is not so complex then its OK. But I have seen some really complex questions without any duke dollars.
true, 900 posts and only about 114 dollars :(
DeepSpace wrote "..true, 900 posts and only about 114 dollars :( "Seems to mirror the overall J2ME market :-(Of the times where I've even seen DukeDollars offered, I've not actually seen any awards, even after there has been a legitimate attempt at helping.
Is it too sample to ask how to connect a PC and a cell phone with Bluetooth? I use Bluecove for the PC, but the Bluetooth cell phone does not support JSR-82.
I searched the internet for days, the forums for the last 2, and all I can find are rudimentary examples that assume JSR-82 support on both the phone and PC.
If it's too simple, please answer it with ease.
it is simple... if there is no BT api, it's not possible!
Hello
I think that deepspace have reason when saying that most of the questions are simple and are made by people that hadn't read the API or didn't try to find the answer. I've wrote a post two or three days ago called "microedition.io". This post could seem to be a poste written by someone who have not read the API. My english is not very good and when I've read the post now I noticed that in it I didn't say what I wanted to say when I wrote it.
I've read the API, I thought I've undestood it, I tried to do the examples in the API. Then I found a problem. When I tried to find the available ports (the second example) I get as answer null So I don't have "microedition.commports" I don't know why is this. I look for anything that could help me but I didn't find anything. Si, I post the topic, bad wrotten, I know.
After that I tried the first example in the API and I get an error:
GetLastError - The cannot find the file > can't open port(00000002)
I don't know if I have to configure something in the wireless toolkit 2.2 or something like that. In my other post I said that I'm new at MIDP, and it's true, but I try to learn.
I don't know if someone could help me or want to help me. If someone could help me I'll be very glad. Thank you
