SCJP Exam for 1.5?

The beta is now in progress. When it completes (I think next month) the data from it will be analysed and the final exam created.

I'd guess it to then be available from May, maybe June, 2005.

It differs significantly from the 1.4 exam. Not just are all the new 1.5 features of course covered (so the amount of material to study has gone up significantly), the types of questions have changed as well as the nature of the questions.

The exam will be more geared towards proving realworld experience with the product rather than purely academic knowledge, thus hopefully getting rid of people who have never used Java before but are able to get past the exam because they're very good at cramming knowledge into their short term memory (something that's always plagued just about every certification exam in existence).

Certainly you need not worry about 1.5 certification. 1.4 will also achieve the same. The certification for 1.2 is still around :)
