problem with applet

I am trying to run an applet,

I keep getting this error message

alt="Your browser understands the <APPLET> tag but isn't running the applet, for some reason."

Your browser is completely ignoring the <APPLET> tag!

Can anyone suggest what I should do to correct this.

Make sure you have a java enabled browser. Go to internet explorer --> tools - internet options --> then the advanced tab, and look for Java Sun and below it will be a check box and some words. If it's not checked, check it. If it is checked, then try unchecking it and see if it
