J2SE Development Kit 5.0 and Netbeans 4.0 Beta 2 Installation

I'm trying to install the sdk with netbeans which i downloaded from the sun website but I keep getting the following error:

WARNING: M:\ partition has insufficient space to install the items selected. 39.7 MB additional space would be needed to install the selected items.

I'm trying to install on my c:\ drive so why should it care about the space available on m:\? (I'm installing on windows xp)

Freeing up some space on M:\ solved the problem but why I should have needed to? Is this a bug in the installer?
