J2SE 1.5 installation problems

Greetings to all,

I am having problems with my JDK 1.5 install. I have downloaded the appropriate file and run the install and the install runs without a hitch. However, it appears as though I have the JRE only as I am missing tools such as javac.exe and javadoc.exe.

The file I download from the Sun site is called jdk-1_5_0-windows-i586.exe. After the install, I check the README.txt file and it makes reference to the JRE (what!!?). I have downloaded the file twice and installed twice all to no avail.

Has anyone experienced this scenario with the installation of JDK 1.5? This is a tad embarassing as I have downloaded many versions of the JDK over the past 3 years or so with no problem.

Cheers

I think that's my problem too. I don't have javac.exe and I can't compile anything under 1.5.

You're right...the Readme is all about the JRE. I wonder what's going on here..I downloaded three times this morning so I know I didn't click the wrong link or whatever...

Instead of the offline installation, I tried the online install and that appears to be ok. It has javac.exe, javadoc.exe...
