Java SDK for windows 3.1

I have an old 486 in my room. The computer that has the SDK is out where my parents can see me when I'm doing my late night programming. I want to be able to put the java SDK on my Packard Bell 486 running windows 98. I searched and searched and searched some more off of google for a Java SDK for windows 3.1. The only thing i can find is IBM's program which they no longer service or even give you links to download their past versions. I am wondering if any of you guys know of any java SDK that will work on my 486 with windows 3.1.

Don't think there is one. But if you're looking to do Java on an older machine, consider installing Linux - it will work even on your older hardware. Just don't expect it to be screaming fast, especially if you're doing GUI stuff on it.

I know it will be slow as hell. I just need it so I can do my homework at night and not ahve my parents complain. I know IBM ported it. I'll try linux. First I have to figure out how to install it on my 486. Installs great on the newer computer we have but I can't quite figure out how to do it on the 486.

I know RedHat used to have a "text only" installer that worked great on ancient hardware. Not sure if it's still there in Fedora or not, though.

I wonder if I re-install Windows 98. I was able to run bloodshed dev C++ on it. I tried just loading the files to via my CD-ROM. I didn't work to well. It just locked up. Do you think if I transfer them via parallel port it will be any better?

I think your parents should buy you a nicer machine for your room. ;-)Good luck with that.

LOL

I have begged my dad to get a new computer just for the regular comptuer. The computer that I will "get caught" on is over 4.5 years old. When I ask him for another one he always says the one we have works.
