ASP for Raq4?

Hi

I'm new to Sun machines and have a 2nd hand Raq4 on the way to play with.

Could someone tell me which version of ChilliSoft works with the Raq4?

My understanding is that this has an Intel cpu so I'm not sure which flavor is applicable.

Appreciate any help

cheers

Malcom

3.6.2 should work fine on a standard raq4 I think. I didn't have any major issues with it and plenty of people still seem to be installing it.

I think raqs come with something of a Sun version of linux (cobalt linux?), bit old now. Its been about 4 or 5 years since I ran a raq3 server. I think the raq4 is about 4 years old.

Hopefully you are also getting the install/restore disks in which case you can install it from scratch and asp should already be on there.

There are some patches here.

Do a search on the forum for raq4 as there are some useful postings re patches etc.

Guess there is no reason why you can not install any version of linux on it. I seem to remember the spec isn't that great by modern standards though.

I'm using 4.0.2 on Redhat Fedora Core 2 (you need to install compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.126.i386.rpm first as I remember). Thats about as modern as you can get until October when hopefully we will see 4.0.3 at last.

PS.

Looks like you can download the iso's here

http://ftp.cobalt.sun.com/pub/iso/

if you do a fresh install make sure you apply all the patches (hopefully they are still on line).

Docs and stuff here

http://www.sun.com/hardware/serverappliances/eol.html

Looks like its end of life (no surprise).

Thanks Guys

Yup I realise its rather old and obsolete but that also means its cheap which is good for learning.

Thanks for the reinstall tip. I didn't realise that Chili was part of the initial build.
