ALOM password reset

I was shipped a V240 from another office. I don't have the root password or the ALOM password. I figured there would be simple documentation from Sun on resetting the ALOM password so I could get to the ok prompt to reboot the computer. Unfortunately most of the ALOM documentation indicates logging in as root to reset the password, which I can't do because I don't have the password. I found one document indicating you can hit escape after ALOM starts booting and there is an option "e - reset NVRAM". Unfortunately when I do this I get a menu "e - set external and internal console serial ports baud..." which of course is of no help. There is also a strange "d - play DOOM" option, which when you push it responds with "okay, you're doomed!" This seems like someone at Sun has a strange sense of humor. It's odd that their QA department would let this pass since it's not very professional. Unfortunately this menu doesn't contain a way to reset the ALOM so this V240 is useless. Is there a battery I can remove to kill it? I popped the only battery I could see out but it didn't help. I've found others with this strange "play doom" option. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on or how to reset the ALOM password if you don't have the root password?

Do you have any similar sun hardware where you do know the root password? Swap in the drive of the one you do know, and you can reset the alom from there.
