need help

dear all,

i am new in sun system & i have sun sparc 20 with external HDD 9GB .

this HDD faile & i replace it with the new one HDD 18GB & format it as the old one for (/var , /usr2, /usr4) and i restore usr4 & usr2 successfully & /var but when I make a reboot & making df k I saw that all capacity take from / (root) to all other partition .

You may have not added/updated the lines to your /etc/vfstab file for the /var, /usr4 and /usr2 mount points. If the paths were not added as separate file systems, they would be under /, just as directories, and they would take up / capacity. You will need the WWN or c?t?d?s? numbers from each slice you formatted. Since these file systems existed previously, then the mount points were already defined on /, and if the new drive/slices didn't mount correctly possibly because of a change in controller or WWN info, files copied to them would go to /.
