DS6 in Sun cluster

Hi

I am doing DS 5.2 migrate to DS6.1. I have DS5.2 and messaging server 6.2 in cluster environment. I am OK with migration process but how to replace existing ldap resource in cluster with the new setting. My messaging resource is dependent on ldap (5.2) resource. I would like to add new ldap resource in cluster and link messaging resource to new ldap while keeping my old ldap resource offline. Can any body guide me what to do and how?

Thanks in advance

Aus-it,

Your description is not very clear. You mention that you are migrating from 5.2 to 6.1 version of ldap server but at the same time you are talking of a new ldap resource as well.

Can you clarify if you are creating a new installation and instance or are you migrating from old version to new version?

Best regards,

Madhan-

Thanks for reply.

As migrating from 5.2 to 6.1 is done in 2 separate instance of directory server. My existing 5.2 directory server will be available which is register with cluster. i want to replace my 5.2 DS with new DS 6.1 instance in cluster . My Messaging is linked with old 5.2 instance and i want to point it to my new DS.

Zafar,

My suggestion:

1.) create a new HASP resource for the new DS instance.

2.) Online the HASP and DS resource

3.) if the messaging server has resource dependency on DS, change it from the old DS server to the new DS server resource.

If there is a messaging server configuration that needs to be changed, it is better to consult with experts in the forum on how to do it. If downtime is not an issue, disable the messaging server resource, make changes to link to new DS resource, change resource dependency and then online it.

HTH.
