mirror with different disk size
Hi all
a newbe question regarding Sun-Blade-150 with solaris 8:
I have to mirror with SDS my existing disk that is a Western Digital
WD400BB (40.0GB - 7200 RPM Ultra
ATA/100).
my supplier told me that disk is no more avaiable and proposed me to
buy a 80.0GB disk of the same model.
If i buy th 80.0GB disk, could be possible to copy vtoc
prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2 | fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c1t1d0s2
and make a mirror with SDS ?
It's not a matter if I'll lose 40GB of new disk.
Really thank you
Maniu

hi maniu
solstice is a good (and affordable) choice.
the gross-capacity of the disk is secondary, but you will loose this 40 gb.
the partition/slices must have the right capacity !
one correction, if i may:<<fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2 >> ;-)
take the drive, run format and rewrite it with a sun disklabel.
go on with this howto -->http://www.geocities.com/arndike/sds_howto.html
it describes very good the mirroring of a hard drive under 5.8
