DevExpress 5/07 issues

Apparently the new release has a couple of things I have difficulty with at install. These issues are not in the previous 2/07 release:

1) 5/07 installs the NIC with DHCP active and no way can I get the static IP address to stick even tho' the various utilities and files call nge0 address at my settings. nge0 still comes up with the dhcp assigned address (DHCP is listed in the ifconfig call. Not so in the earlier edition)

2) I cannot get Samba to run properly unless I specifically call nmbd after the system is booted. On the earlier release once Samba is set up, it always boots up properly and I don't have to run swat or anything else to talk to the other machines on the network.

So far, I have tried for nearly 2 weeks to get some kind of response or guidance from forum members - with absolutely no success. Is the issue so simple or too difficult to offer guidance?

I want to go to the 5/07 edition for SunStudio 12, etc., but this is going on maddening trying to get the d_ thing to function properly. All i want is to get Samba and static IP addressing to work (the gnome applet for network setup is useless it seems).

Anyone?

Many thanks,

JIm

You can disable network automagic by disabling network/physical:nwam and enabling network/physical:default., but note that you will have to set the address and DNS/NIS stuff by hand.Note that what you are seeing is early intro of new code. More components of NWAM will be coming in future releases.
