Graphical installation not working on my laptop?
Hi I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with an ATI Mobility x1400 and whenever I use the Solaris 10 DVD to try and install whenever I select graphics installation option I get corrupted graphics and I have to restart. Does anybody know how to fix this? Whenever I try to use text installation I can never get the options I want. Thanks in advance.

hi silver
at first glance, it looks like a problem with the driver of your graphics adapter.
how does these corruptions look like ? false colours and icons or a blank screen ?
try to set up video configuration manually.
choose:
- XF86-VESA VESA-compatible video card and
- a MultiFrequency Monitor, 14 or 15 inch screen (1024x768) during installation.
you can adapt the resolution etc. after installation with xorgconfig

There are many ATI chipsets on the HCL

Is your hardware included?
Did you even check before attempting to install Solaris?
If you're not using supported hardware, then you need to choose a different computer for your OS.

I can't find my individual card however, which is an ATI Mobility Radeon x1400.
