Reset RSC password

hi,

Sun Fire 280R

Forget password for RSC, No OS

1. turn off server on which password is unknown. Plug cable to port A

2. plug cable to port B on the second Sun Fire 280R. Exec 'tip hardwire'

3. power up server. wait for blinking lamp and double press power button

4. no console in the 'tip'.

Whats wrong? :/

I don't think the "double pump" trick was ever designed into the 280R systems.

I seem to remember it didn't appear as a workaround

until the newer V210/V240-era, and/or the V480-era systems began to ship.

Try turning the key into DIAG mode. That may force output to TTYa.

Bad news?Diagnostic POST will also disable any input capability.

Now let's have others jump in here with their suggestions.

OBP is 4.5.4 so turning key to DIAG is not implemented yet since infodocs tells about implementation after version 4.15.

so it doesnt help too :(

Hello,

install the RSC card (with the unkown RSC password) in the second F280R and reset the password with rscadm.

Michael

You mentioned that a second F280R is available.
