Although this forum is called "New to Java", it's not really for the absolute beginner. You should have a basic knowledge of how to write, compile and run a simple program, at the very least. It's definately not a tutorial forum

Start by downloading the Java SDK, and reading one of the many tutorials on this site. Lots of luck, and don't be afraid to come here when you're stuck

Cheers for that bit, I can never remember those links and I'm too lazy to go hunting around for them!

That's because you (like most of us) use Google which eventually means you operate on short-term memory only since you don't need to remember anything anymore :-)

True indeed. How many phone numbers do you know off-by-heart, now that your cellphone remembers them for you? Sad, in a way, but that's "progress" for you :-)

The guy who wanted to learn java might have already lost track.

I believe the next release after iPhone would be iPhone 2.0

That being said, I believe the person who first posted the question needs to ask himself what he wants to accomplish. If he wants a web site to advertise his business services, I believe there are prepackaged web sites for sale set up for him that he only needs to plug in the name of his business.

Java (in terms of a web site) is to process requests from people who want to dynamically interact with his web site.
