Hi,

Yes this is normal.

The ims_master process is responsible for delivering emails into the users actual account on disk. If there aren't any emails to deliver for a certain period of time (quiet systems) OR the process has delivered a certain number of emails over a given threshold (busy systems) then the process shuts down. When a new emails come in or if there are still emails to be processed in the ims-ms queue, then a new ims_master process is created to deliver the email.

The actual notice itself should never really have been given a 'Notice' status since it tended to alarm customers such as yourself even though it was entirely normal processing.

The other delivery processes e.g. smtp_client do a similar thing but don't get logged. I'm pretty sure in later patches the message was downgraded in importance so it didn't appear when the default 'Notice' level was being used, but I don't have access to my system to confirm at the moment when/if this occurred.

Regards,

Shane.
