imsrestore

Hi,

we're running sun java messaging on Solaris 10 but the disk has crashed. we've imsbackup of entire store and ldif backup of user accounts.

version:

Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-7.05 (built Sep 5 2006)

libimta.so 6.2-7.05 (built 12:18:44, Sep 5 2006)

I rebuilt everything and restored all accounts with store using imsrestore.

Everything is working fine but users who use POP3 (they set to "leave a copy on the server") are getting all the e-mails in INBOX downloaded again onto their desktop.

How to avoid this?

I also have rsync backup of store. Does it help better?

TIA

Pvn

Hi,

I was able to reproduce this myself but only if new emails were delivered to the account _prior_ to the restore of the old emails taking place. This appears to be a client-side issue though in the handling of emails under such conditions. rsync isn't going to help the situation, in-fact it is likely to make it worse -- especially if rsync ends up over-writing pre-existing emails.

Regards,

Shane.
