Search for new Items/Object in several Web Sites

Hello,I want to write a program that scanned the Web Sites and find out whether new Items inserted/changed.. (For example: an online shop offered some Item to sale..I want my program to detect any new Item, if it is inserted).Has anybody an idee how i begin?
Pencil, paper, thinking about how this is supposed to work?
