updatemanager

Hi,

I am new to using the updatemanager software on Sun os 5.10. I am through registration. I have some queries,

1. Some patches I could install as they did not require reboot or init 1 but some patches indicate either a reboot or needs to be installed in super/single user mode.

How can I update those patches which require a reboot or init 1

Can I download those patches with update manager in runlevel 3 and go to init 1 and get run updatemanager to install those patches as they r already downloaded.

or I have to dowload patches manually and again install them manually in super user mode ?

What is best way for applying those patches to have least down time for sun server ?

Also if I have a contract which email address can I write to for support for such queries ?

Please let me know

Thanks

Upendra

If you apply via updatemanager there is no need to apply some patches at one run level then change to a different run level and apply the remaining via the toolset.

Those patches which can not be applied in multiuser mode will be noted in the:

/var/sadm/spool/disallowed_patch_list_report

The next time you reboot your system, all those patches that could not be applied previously, i.e. had to be applied in single user mode, or have dependancies on patches which require to be applied in single user mode, will be applied.

There is no email address to answer any querie regarding this product. If you have a contract just raise a support case via your local CCC and ask them to place it into the "SWUP_SUPPORT" group, and someone from my group will pick up and action the case.
