118833-36 fails to install (again)

I think I am pretty stuck. I cannot get the latest cluster to install because of 118833-36. I have searched and tried everything I found but cannot get past this kernel update. Here is the log output from 118833-36:

I have tried downloading the cluster and using patchadd seperatly on the 118833-36 patch as well as running the install_cluster script but fails everytime on 118833-36.

Anybody have any ideas or what other info can I provide to help troubleshoot this?

Patch 118833-36 is an interactive patch and cannot be applied via smpatch.

Also this patch has the following dependancy patches:

118918-13 119042-09 119254-14 119578-30

To apply the kernel patch follow the instructions below:

# init 1

# patchadd /path/118833-36

The special instructions for this patch are as follows:

Installation Requirements:

Reconfigure immediately after patch is installed

Install in Single User Mode

I am wondering, I have 2 zones on zfs file systems, is that a problem? I have 4 other zones on regular ufs file systems. I am not sure if that will cause any problems.

I cannot see any reason why having a combination of UFS and ZFS file systems would cause the behaviour that you are seeing.

Where are you attempting to install the kernel patch, i.e. global zone?

Please can you run the following command:

# uname -a

# zoneadm list -c

# showrev -p | grep 118833

# cat /var/sadm/patch/118833-36/log

And return the output generated.

so after searching thru more posts, I saw another person with the same problem but his fix was that he had too many mounted file systems. I have close to 1000 user file systems so I unmounted them and then it seed like it started to patch ok but now I ended up with a system that will not boot my zones, will dump core with drvconfig and dump core whenever I do an "ls -l /"

looking at the log file from the patchadd for 118833-36 I see this:

So here is what I see wrong after the patchadd:

1. zones will not boot, they fail with the error:

zoneadm: zone 'dns': could not start zoneadmd

zoneadm: zone 'dns': call to zoneadmd failed

2. devfsadm will dump core:

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

3. ls -l / will also dump core (only in multiuser mode not in sinlge user mode):

I am having a real tough time with this patch cluster..any help..?
