Bricked Blade 100?

Ok, I'm relatively new to Sun hardware and wanted a box to play with solaris 10. I have a blade 100 that doesn't POST and there is no green light on the power button. I have removed ever add-on card etc... and still nothing. The drives are however receiving power. Do I have a bricked 100? or am i missing something?

That will happen if the wrong type of RAM is installed, make sure you have the exact type needed. I seem to recall that they need Registered ECC. Not sure on the type/speed though.

Yup, using the correct type of memory. Also tried booting up with no memory at all, same result.

You could try this, the CPU may be bad..

Disconnect the mouse/keyboard and monitor, connect the blade pc to a windows pc using a null modem cable from serial to serial connections, open hyperterminal on the windows machine and connect that way as you boot-up the blade... I dont remember the exact settings on the hyperterminal, but I think is 9200 bit... the manual (or google) can tell you exactly... same settings you would use to connect a router..

Well, once connected and you boot it it will show you a serie of eiother error messages or something else, with that info you can find out what the problem is... someplace on this archive there is more information about it... just a search would do it...
