Hi,

I have installed 2 SMC server on sparc V440 and +- 30 sparc clients (= only agents).

All are S10 3/05, 6/06 or 11/06.

My comments about installation:

port 161 is in use. I use 2161 instead.

You must edit 2 scripts to install database *.dbf files on ZFS:

Change vxfs to ufs:

vi /opt/SUNWsymon/addons/PRM/sbin/db-setup.sh (PRM module)

vi /opt/SUNWsymon/addons/SCM/sbin/scm-db-common.sh (container module)

If a firewall block ping betwwen agent and server, setup refuse to continue. To prevent this, i add server name in client:/etc/inet/ipnodes (just for install period).

Until now, I can't start installation on a x86 nv64. I get:

" Installation files source directory: /tmp/cdrom/disk1/image/SunOS/i386

XML APIs not accessible

Exiting Sun Management Center installation."

On 11/06 i also got an error saying that port 161 was in use, but since i've disabled all the bundled SNMP agents i ignored that message, and its been working anyway. (I thought it would be to much of a hassle to run SunMC on a non-default port). .7/M.

Thanks guys for your comments. I was able to install SunMC3.6.1 on a SUN Blade2500 workstation last week.

Also mostly client except few were able to make contact with server. I used port1161 instead.

Now I have issue when SunMConline backup starts at midnight (via CRON), although oracle is setup up in archive mode, but looks like it's not backing up online as SuncMC server daemon die after backup.

Although a temporary workaround in place is to start the SunMC server via cron after backup finishes, but can anyone please advise what can be the issue?
