6130 Parts / 6140 Controller Compatibility
We presently have a 6130 Controller with one connected FC expansion tray that is fully populated and a SATA expansion tray populated with 5 drives.
I would like to fully populate the SATA tray with 9 additional drives and I am having difficulties locating the drive tray part individually or the complete assembly with drive. Presently the empty bays are populated with a filler tray which don't appear to accept an OEM drive.
Additionally I am looking for any documentation regarding the compatibility of the 6130 with the 6140 array. I would be interested in utilizing the 6130 controller tray as an expansion tray and installing a new 6140 controller. Also, is it possible to interconnect two 6130 controller trays in the same array and allow the second 6130 controller to function purely as an expansion tray as I have a spare 6130 controller?
Thanks.

The fillers are just that - they aren't disk sleds. You unfortunately can't just plug in any old SATA drive; there are specific firmware revision requirements that must be met for the drive to work properly in these arrays.

You could remove the controllers and replace them with ESMs but I'm not sure that this would be a supported configuration and would depend on the firmware on the array. As it is, the controller would not work as expansion for the 6130.
