Studio 12 installation remembers directory
Hi all.
I tried installing Sun Studio 12 on my Solaris 10 box. There were troubles at installation, I think because although the top level directory (/opt) was on my box, the next level down (/opt/lang) was out somewhere else on nfs. I tried to uninstall, but that also failed, I'm thinking same reason.
Anyway, now I would like to install to a directory that I know for sure is purely on my machine, but the installation remembers that it was installed to /opt, and I can't tell it to install somewhere else. I would like to know where the information is stored, so I can blow that file away, and start fresh.
Anyone?
Thanks,
RickH

Hello Clamage.
Thanks for the idea. However, /var/sadm/prod is empty.
As is probably not a surprise, /var/sadm/prod is a local directory on my machine. The installation did deposit the file uninstall_Sun_Studio_12.class in my /opt.
Is there a more detailed Installation Guide I can explore for clues? I have only seen Quick Installation, http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-0273 .

Right, the uninstall_Sun_Studio_12.class file is the one to be used for uninstall. This gets deposited in the base directory (/opt in your case).

The above link has a chapter on uninstallation.
