solaris 10 installation freeze

hi, I'am triying to install solaris 10 on a set of new servers, installation goes smooth, screen shows perfectly, and graphics are apparently ok, however, on the first boot, the computer freezes on the login screen, we get a black screen with a thick pink line at the top and it freezes.

Also, I noticed that even if we change the driver, monitor and resolution to be used on the installation process, this is not the info that is used when booting the OS.

I ran the SUN OS hardware utility and it shows everything but network and audio are fine. I disabled both on the BIOS, also the USB interfaces were shut down on the BIOS. Motherboard is an AsRock ConRoe945G-DVI. (the DVI card is not installed)

In what stage installation does freeze?

is this sparc architecture or x86?

if sparc, try connecting a dumb term or equiv to the serial port instead of console and watch the boot up process - you may have to disconnect the console, kbd and mouse in order to get output on your serial port - and it's always depending on if the output-device and input-device are set to something other than screen and keyboard respectively, as in the case of an RSC card)

if it's x86, I'll defer to someone else - jeff

x86, after the installation reboots the system, it goes trough all the starting process, but when loading X, it freezes with a thick pink line at the top.

I managed to solve the problem by breaking the process, changing the video frequency made it send an error and give me a prompt; after i got this prompt i used kdmconfig -u and kdmconfig -c and changet from xserver to xsun and rebooted. this worked preferctly.

however, it would be great if we were able to choose (simply) which x to use, from the beginning; also, the drivers and setup we chose during the installation process is ONLY for the installation process, as we noticed by checking the X config files that the drivers and setup we chose during the install was not the ones in those conf files.
