Your disk controller probably inst supported out of the box.Run the install check CD and check the hardware compatability list. You might be able to load a 3rd party driver.

O.P.If you'd searched the Solaris on x86 forum on keywords "no disk found",you might have found guidance earlier. At least you'd get a sense whether it had ever been discussed beforeor whether your issue is unique (which it is not).

I was able to install Solaris 10 on a hp dv6000 as a dual boot system with Microsoft Vista. After installation I had two problems.

1) GRUB seems to have changed the Disk Signature in the MBR making Vista unbootable. See:

www.multibooters.co.uk/mbr.html.

I found a possible solution at: http://blogs.sun.com/moinakg/entry/vista_and_solaris_express_dual

but haven't tried it yet.

2)Installing the Patches hung the system and made Solaris 10 unbootable. I haven't tracked down which patch was responsible.

How have you prepared hard drive for Solaris instalation? I used Gparted for made partition for Solaris, probably it was fault because Gparted done improper disks label.
