Solaris 9 Workspace Menu

Hi all,

i have an issue with customizing the Workspace menu (i.e. right click on desktop and the resulting menu) on Solaris 9 that i have trawled the web for and come up empty.

I have added some applications to the Menu using the Customize Menu Option but when i right click, and select one of these applications from the menu a seperate Run terminal window is run with the application. when you exit the application the Run terminal window is left there on the desktop. So for every application added to the Workspace menu, a seperate Run terminal window appears when the application is run.

How can you stop this happening?

For the default applications in the Menu (like Calculator) this doesn't happen.

I have checked my ../.dt/dtwmrc file and wsmenu files to see what is different to the entries for Calculator etc and the only difference is for the menu items i have added i have

f.action Run "PATH TO APPLICATION" whereas the Calculator for example has

f.action Dtcalc (ie.no absolute path).

anyone any ideas?

I simply used the Add Item to Menu option to create our custom Workspace menu

Many thanks

J

hi "headache" (hope, it has nothing to do with sol *g* )

some progs (opera) open a separate shell with dtterm at startup, when brought to workspace menu. because of being too lazy to search i use this workaround with modified workspace menus:

create an action:

right-klick on backdrop --> Application --> Application Manager --> Desktop_Apps --> Create action

give a action name and enter the full path (e.g. /usr/bin/opera ) in the "Command when Action is opened"-field.

save this action - (it will be saved in your homefolder). then take this action to workspace menu by "Add Item".

et voil?- your prog starts without minimized dtterm.

hope that helps,

jenny
