Netgear GA311 NIC on HCL list, but not working either. Why?

DLink DFE-530TX+

Netgear GA311

Intel PRO/1000 MT dual port

The above 3 NICs appeared on the approved HCL list for Solaris 10 (Nov 2006). I went to the store, and bought all 3 of them already.

I tried using the DLink DFE-530TX+. It didn't work. I got some results when I ran the ipconfig -a command. However, after inserting the correct values for /etc/hosts and rebooting, I couldn't ping any IP addresses on the network.

So now, I just started all over using the Netgear GA311 NIC. Does not work either.

What am I doing wrong?

Tonight, I'll use the Intel PRO/1000 MT dual port and see if it works.

In the past, I've successfully loaded Solaris 10 (older versions) on many x86 systems without NIC problems. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

serendipity1276,

I'm currently running both Netgear GA311 and DLink DFE-530TX+ on my machines with no problems using the drivers located here:

http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/eng/

Follow the read me files. Also, you will have to edit the /etc/driver_aliases for the DLink card and remove the reference to rtls driver prior to adding the new rf driver. You might also need to run sys-uncofig after installing the drivers to reset your network settings

My Netgear GA311 showed up as rge on my Solaris 10 for x86 box.I found that out by running 'prtconf -D' and looking through the list.Try 'ifconfig rge0 plumb' and then 'ifconfig -a' to see if it takes.
