Very slow printing with HP deskjet 3650

Hello,My HP deskjet 3650 prints too slow under solaris 10x86. I haveonly one choice for a driver: foomatic/hpijs. Does anyone have the same problem? How solve it? Thanks.

Is this USB or networked? Ages ago I had an hp attached directly to my blade1000 and it was unusably slow. Now I only use jetdirect printers and it works great with hpijs (foomatic is still awful and is suggested for the hp4000).

Hi,

Thanks for the support.

My printer, local, is attached to an USB port (/usr/printers/0). I think this problem is

caused by the driver. I wonder for installing HPLIP from HP but it is available only

for Linux... About your reply, what do you mean by inkdirect printers, other trademarks

printers?

good WE!

Agreed that foomatic is bad news.Best option is to find and use a real Postscript printer. Failing that, setup a script to spool through ghostscript.

Well,

If I understood, you suggested me to write a script that calls gostscript (gs). Also,

I have to edit the printcap file (/etc/printcap) to show where is such a script.

Ok, but there's no -sDEVICE option for the hp-deskjet-3650 in the ╣s?command.

About your suggestion for getting a postcript printer, for the moment, I have no

additional money to do that...

Anyway, thank you for help me.

not inkdirect, jetdirect. After my experience with my local printer I have just moved to networked printers entirely. I am sure this is not necessary though. Have you tried cups? Search these forums for CUPS and you can give that a shot.

You probably don't need the exact model. Some other -sDEVICE that supports the same printer language will work just as well. Perhaps a generic deskjet?

Hello,

Yes, JetDirect from HP.

Here, I can not send my print jobs to a network printer.

I would not install CUPS since I will have an open port: 631.

I think the problem is with Solaris OS; My printer worked

normal with many Linux flavors (Debian, Fedora, end Ubuntu).

I would like to find someone who solved this problem with

Solaris LPD service.

Thank you guys.
