Solaris 10 x86/64 interactive mode installation problem

Hi

I'm trying to install a new copy of the solaris 10 dvd on my x64 intel machine.

I noticed that it couldn't get into a windowed mode installation so

I've tried to install it under VMWARE workstation 6 with the iso image first

in order to test things:

I've noticed that during installation after choosing the interactive mode and

auto configuring the inerface card it starts by displaying "setting up java. please wait..." and then goes into a windowing mode installation.

After burning this iso image into a dvd and trying to install it the same way

under VMWARE it skips the "setting up java. please wait..." and goes

straight into a blue text based installation instead of the windowed one (like

i've tried installing it before the vmware installation test).

I've tried already burning this image several times and i don't know if the

problem is with a defective burn or something else i'm missing.

I have a NEC DVD burner and i don't have any burning problems with iso

images so far so i don't know where's the problem...

The iso image meets the md5check correctly after downloading it 3 times.

Another clue i can give you that will maybe help:

When i mounted the iso image into the IsoBuster tool there weren't any

special signs on the files inside the image but when i mounted the dvd which i burned, there were red X's on them on any time i've burned the iso image and i don't know what it means.

I'll appreciate any help/

Thanks in advance.

Well, guess what ?

it seems the problem was my NEC DVD burner (although it steel works fine):

I've decided to buy a new DVD burner since my sister's one didn't work so

i gave her my NEC and bought for me a new one.

When i buy computer hardware i have a rule: "Pay more Suffer less !"

There's only one company who dares to call it's burners "legendery" and

it's without doubt "PLEXTOR" !

So, i bought the PX-800A model and after burning the iso image in full speed

on the same media type (TEAC dvd-r), i checked it again under IsoBuster, and the red X's i've talked about earlier disappeared and the installation from

the burned media works like a charm.

Ohhh i love PLEXTOR (it was a good choise) !
