problem in installing solaris 10 in sun blade 1000
Dear all,
I am trying to install solaris 10 in sun blade 1000 and getting a problem that disk doesn't exist ......... After several tentatives, I understood that I need to format a harddrive as it is new. I formeted it with boot cdrom -s and the problem still persists.
I bought a 73g HDD and the machine recognize it as 68,38g .. is there any upgrade I need to perform ..
Could someone please help me to solve this problem
Thanks a lot for your reply ...

There are several parts to your question. First the size of the disk.
Please read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabyte#Consumer_confusion
That should explain why the disk is recognized as being "smaller".
As far as the install problem goes, we need more information.
What is the exact error? When are you getting the error?

Hi,
thanks for your reply. Actually i solved the problem
It was a probem of label .... I changed the label of HDD to SMI with SCSI autodetect then I formated the HDD again, and the problem is solved.
The problem is when we format HDD and this takes EFI by default. As solaris doesn't recognize EFI, the installation doesn't continue and displays an error : disk doesn't exist or no disk found ...
Regards and thanks again
